Good to hear from you.
We had a truly wonderful time. So much so, when we got home yesterday, I was feeling rather flat. But a good meal with some wine and playing with our dogs cheered me up.
So, what follows is a view on where we stayed and what we did etc.
We love this area and Cape Town. The accom was as described, and we had a good time.
I think that next time we will choose to stay further up the coast, at Plett Bay, where we have stayed before, or Mosel Bay. We met some people in Botswana, who recommended some reserves near Durban, but I can not recall the names of them.
We tried some of the places Gelle recommended, Gordans Bay was our kind of place, as is Somerset West, and we had a good meal in the restaurant on the beach in Paternoster
The lodge was excellent, just the type of place we like. We got to talk with the staff, and owners, which added to our stay. We had dinner on the terrace at the Vic Falls hotel, and dinner on a river cruise. Both were excellent. The falls themselves were breathtaking, and after walking around the viewing points, we had lunch at the Look Out cafe. Victoria Falls is a must for your future customers. Gelle was right, we could have spent more time there.
Both lodges were also excellent. All 3 lodges gave a personal touch, and a genuinely warm greeting. The staff at all of them were excellent. Chobi is a must for anyone, and the second lodge gave us the chance to sleep right next to nature. The noises and animal activity at night will live with is forever. Also, at the second lodge, we were the only guests, so we were a bit like royalty! At 4.40am on the first night we were woken by a hippo splashing around and as we got up out of bed, we could see it about 10 yards away – brilliant. The noises all night were also something we will talk about for years.
All of the logistics etc were as planned. Your plan for our hols were excellent, many thanks.
We shall return, we just have to decide when. Maybe when the England rugby team tour ( June 2018 or 2019 ) or when our cricket team play a 5 day test in Capetown, or when the British and Irish Lions rugby team tour, which should be in June 2021. I suppose we prefer a holiday in February, as it helps break up our winter. But the rugby and cricket are on my bucket list!!
For Gelle, thanks for the wine, it was good. It was also really good to meet you. If ever you are in England, please come and stay.
A great holiday, with great memories,
Fondest, and go well,
Guy and Joy from the UK ( Feb 2017 Luxury South Africa Victoria Falls and fly in Safari in Botswana )
